Bible Genealogy
As a Saturday afternoon family activity, we read Genesis chapter 1 to 11 from Bible (NKJV). We perused for names and recorded their kinship into MacFamily Tree 9. These are our findings:
- 4 women names were recorded (Adah, Eve, Naamah and Zillah).
- 19 generations are from Adam to Abram, Haran and Nahor brothers who are Adam’s 17th grandchildren.
- Enoch, Havilah, Lamech, Nahor and Sheba are repeated names, 2 persons for each.
- 13 names were recorded as the sons of Joktan.
You can download Adam’s descendant chart based on what we entered as a PDF or GEDCOM.
Mistakes
Before we started ,we were too enthusiast that we did not check previous work done on this area; however, I did it later to compare our results. These are the other sources I found:
- http://www.mb-soft.com/believe/txc/genealog.htm
Conclusion
Our goal is to record on the software the geneology from Adam until Jesus, so far we reached Abram by reading only Genesis chapters 1 to 11. After comparing our results whith Complete Bible Genealogy website we learnt that there are parts recorded on the New Testament (Luke) that adds more information missing in Genesis. We are exited to continue this journey on next Saturday.
